Arnold and Maria served as an education specialist with Amity Foundation, based in Nanjing, China. Amity, founded in 1985, is the largest faith-based social service organization in China, and is a long-time mission partner of Global Ministries. It engages in programs of education, rural development, health, environmental protection, and disaster relief. It is a major channel through which Chinese Christians express their social concerns. Amity also has a publishing component that is the largest printer of Bibles in the world. 


PHILIPPINES

Hoi Lam Chai
Place of Assignment: Harris Memorial College
Home Country: Hong Kong

Hollace served with the Community Extension Services and Development of Harris Memorial College in Taytay, Philippines, with special focus on community organizing with members of the Manggahan Farmers Association in Rizal Province. The program has two main components: early childhood education and Christian education and discipleship. Harris College is engaged in the training of educators and deaconesses. It has programs in land use and community health. 

Nora Cunningham
Place of Assignment: Kapatiran-Kaunlaran Foundation, Inc. (KKFI)
Home Country: USA

Nora served as a development assistant for the Kapatiran-Kaunlaran Foundation in Manila, Philippines, working specifically with anti-substance abuse projects in three locations. The foundation is a United Methodist-related institution with an ecumenical vision that seeks to build communities of peace, justice, respect for all creation, and abundant life. The emphasis is on education and empowerment. 

Glory Ilunga Kapya Mulimba
Place of Assignment: InPeace
Home Country: DRCongo, Africa

Glory served with Initiatives for Peace in Mindanao (INPEACE), based in Davao City, Philippines. INPEACE is a grassroots, interfaith peace movement that facilitates justice and a lasting peace in Mindanao. The area, the country’s second-largest island, struggles as traditional agriculture comes in conflict with transnational mining and agribusiness. It copes with the impact of two revolutionary movements, the National Democratic Front and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. INPEACE is a long-time mission partner of Global Ministries.


JAPAN


Hye-In Lee
Place of Assignment: Kyofukai, Japan Christian Women’s Org
Home Country: South Korea

Hye-In served as a staff member and counselor in the HELP shelter, sponsored by KYOFUKAI, the Japan Christian Women’s Organization. HELP was founded in 1986 to mark the 100th anniversary of KYOFUKAI. It provides support for women and children in need. A majority of the residents are fleeing violence or situations of forced prostitution, or have lost their homes. KYOFUKAI has a broad agenda of support for the human rights of women.


HONG KONG

Laura V. Nunez Olaciregui
Place of Assignment: Mission for Migrant Workers (MFMW)
Home Country: Colombia

Laura served as a case officer with Mission for Migrant Workers (MFMW), a long-time mission partner of Global Ministries in Hong Kong. The mission provides guidance and support of migrant workers in distress. It provides emergency housing when needed, educational seminars, and assistance when migrants need help understanding or asserting their rights. It opposes and takes action against exploitative or discriminatory policies and practices. Laura worked with individuals and is also part of a case officer’s team.
